Can you believe that we are sitting here just days away from episode two (and watch party two of our six week series ) for Season 4 of HGTV's #1 Hit Show, Rock the Block. So to kick off the weekend we wanted to recap our favorite moments and trends that highlight the Rock the Block battleground that is Heron Lakes from week one! The premier episode of Rock the Block focused on the central point to a home, the kitchen! This week included additional spaces of the formal dining room, optional study space, mudroom and pantry. Team Renovation Island's, Sarah Baumler, said it best speaking to the inspiration for each home, "I'm in the Rocky Mountains!"

Favorite design concepts from week one that will compliment a custom lifestyle in Heron Lakes + WHO WON this week!:

Given that our community ranges from maintenance free townhomes and villas to custom estate properties, we boast a diverse mix of families, empty nesters, business professionals, retired couples and more. Each team touched to aspects in their own design style which will speak to what buyers are looking for in Northern Colorado and seek in a lifestyle our community can offer.

Jon and Kristina | Team Farmhouse Fixer: We love the stone floors throughout the mudroom and back kitchen in this space! After a long day boating in lake soaked clothing or after fishing on one of the three reservoirs, a durable floor that is trendy and can actually take the mud and snow is a must! We love that this flooring is also included in the prep kitchen as another outdoor entrance leading to the backyard for this same reason! The other aspect to this team's mud room that we think will be a hit is the built in dog feeding and watering station right off the garage. If you walk along any of the 8 miles of trails in the community you will find that the majority of residents own a dog and this will definitely compliment that aspect of our community lifestyle in Heron Lakes. Now for the spoiler! This team's space won them the week with it all coming down to the secondary kitchen concept most teams ran with!

Page and Mitch | Team Fix My Flip: The fine details of the kitchen and formal dining room will speak to the lifestyle of entertaining and keeping social. The dividing wine wall between the kitchen and dining room visually draws to a luxury buyer who also has a taste for great wine and leans into the luxury lifestyle you can create in Heron Lakes. A buyer who attracts to this home might find that the Wine Locker Club at TPC Colorado, and extended list of social groups established in the community would compliment their ideal lifestyle! Page said it herself, she did the research! We love that this team also created a space for four legged friends with an easy dog washing station in the mud room. The last thing you want is to bring a dog through your beautiful home after they just took a dip in lake water.

Michel and Anthony | Team Luxe for Less: A luxury, high-end buyer is going to be in awe of this home! The ideal buyer for this home would enjoy and appreciate the amenities of a resort-style pool, full fitness center on-site with personal training, the overall active lifestyle steps away from your door and additional amenities that come with being a Member of TPC Colorado. Speaking of TPC Colorado, we had to touch on the lighting fixture in the formal dining room because it reminds us so much of the custom lighting in the Center Stage restaurant inside the Clubhouse. The lighting in the Clubhouse was designed to frame the mountain ranges visible, varying depth and heights and Michel and Anthony transitioned this into this home without them even realizing.

Bryan and Sarah | Team Renovation Island: Let's talk about the 180 degree viewing concept from our only couple of the season! Flipping the layout of their kitchen and combining the optional space into a functional live-in kitchen truly made this zone the center of the home with direct views of the Colorado mountains. The Baumeler's have four children themselves ranging from all ages so they envisioned a lifestyle in this home of active business professionals who have children and can blend a lifestyle of chaos and functional luxury. The resort-pool, TPC Colorado amenities that can be extended to Junior Golf programming and outdoor lifestyle in Heron Lakes could appeal to this home's buyer!

Outside of seeing these amazing HGTV stars in action and the process that is Rock the Block come to fruition, these were some of our favorite moments from episode one!

The first walk-in reactions and comments on the insane views of Longs Peak, Mount Meeker and the entire Colorado Front Range.

The wow factor was there for every single team that looked out over Lonetree Reservoir towards those famous Colorado peaks. The design challenge sent each team up in hot air balloons just outside of the Lonetree Reservoir marina area in our community to get inspired by the topography of Colorado. This gave designers view of the full Heron Lakes at TPC Colorado's master-planned development which sits on over 850 acres of land in total with the 18-hole championship golf course, various community segments (Northern Lights, The Peninsula, The Rookery), reservoirs/recreational areas and permanent open space! Landmark Homes presented four identical structural designs with elevated ceilings, an open concept floor plan and mass windows that let in all the Colorado sunshine and the reactions we're great!
