Episode three on Rock the Block proved that the competition this season is strong and that season 4 is truly the biggest and best season yet! This week focused on the Main Suites of the homes (Primary Bedroom, Private Bath and Walk-in Closets) and it also featured one of our favorite spots along the Colorado Front Range, Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch which is located in Loveland, CO, just about 20 minutes north of our community! We truly loved that the challenge this week brought out everyone's silly side and introduced each team to western root living along the Colorado Front Range.

Spoiler Alert - Read if you've already been rocking or if you don't mind finding out who won and claimed the extra $3,000 towards next week's space!

The Winning Differences of Week Three, a Look at Northern Colorado + WHO WON!:

On average a homeowner will spend 6.8 hours a day - 2,482 hours a year - in their bedroom, so why not make it the best room in the house? These HGTV stars did just that this week, pulling out all the stops to make the space a Colorado homeowners dream! This involves beautiful, functional designs that, again, highlight the natural views Heron Lakes offers! The design challenge this week pushed each team to integrate a Colorado focused material into their space with the choice of leather, lasso rope, copper, saddle blankets or beetle kill pine. Each team took turns choosing their materials on site at Sylvan Dale and even took a horse ride to get inspired by the diverse landscape Northern Colorado offers.

Jon and Kristina | Team Farmhouse Fixer: The classic Kristina Crestin green is back this week (Secret Garden by Sherman Williams for those who have been asking!) with millwork textured walls throughout the main bedroom which perfectly reflect and frame the mountain views! Jon's comment this week was that the views are like watching "live TV" and the importance of using the water views to their advantage for crane watching was important! While we can't promise the views of many cranes, owners in Heron Lakes see a lot of Great Blue Herons and other heron varieties on property. Our community is home to the largest Blue Heron Rookery in the state of Colorado and offers over 130 acres of permanent open space for these birds to thrive and live as neighbors in our ecosystem. Team Farmhouse Fixer had some trouble this week with a last minute broken chandelier for their primary bedroom, but using their lasso rope this team was able to create a custom shade for their space that brings in Colorado. While the judges weren't thrilled with the change, we thought that it brought in their element in a very tasteful way to compliment their more modern feel to their farmhouse style this week.

Page and Mitch | Team Fix My Flip: Right as Mitch entered the bedroom space this week he yelled "views for days," and that is exactly the thought a homeowner wants to have each time they enter their primary bedroom and see the Rocky Mountains. After winning last week, Page and Mitch had an extra $2,000 to put towards their primary suite and received the advantage of choosing which Colorado based material they would need to integrate into their space for the design challenge. Leather was the chosen material for this team where they integrated the element as handle covers for their double doors that enter the primary bathroom where you are greeted by a massive soaking tub with a fireplace close by. We can only imagine how amazing this space would complement a life in Heron Lakes! Imagine that you just took a long morning or night run in the cool Colorado air and when you get home, you retreat to your luxurious bath to read a book or catch up on TV (Maybe even some Rock the Block) and relax!

Michel and Anthony | Team Luxe for Less: This week both Michel and Anthony were able to play to their strengths and add the key words of "visual square footage" to their home. In a setting like this that is exactly what is going to draw in a homebuyer who wants to experience Colorado living at it's finest each and every day. This home is absolutely mountain modern for a bachelor! The elements of this home that won us and the judges over this week in Michel and Anthony's primary suite space were the added deck off the master suite adding the wow factor of seeing the Colorado mountains from the primary bedroom and offering another blended setting of an indoor/outdoor feel but with more privacy than the existing back deck. We also love that this lets in more natural light because when you have over 300 days of sunshine a year, you might as well let that in! If that doesn't sound amazing enough, the primary bathroom screams luxury with marbled porcelain floors and walls and a massive soaking tub. Where we feel took it all was the primary closet! The thoughtful touches that you were not able to even see on screen like the LED lights running along the closet doors are what won us over. The way that they used every space in the room for storage or drawers, and truly maxed out the possibilities was brilliant and let them to the win in week 3 and an extra $3,000 towards next weeks Lower Level Face-Off!

Bryan and Sarah | Team Renovation Island: Elegance and balance are the words that come to mind this week to describe the Baeumler's Primary Suite space! They were able to use a mix of light and dark elements to bring out personality of each section. In the main bedroom they brought in this dark tray ceiling contrasting with their pine wood design surprise element and a gorgeous hanging chandelier. We love that different than the other teams, they created a built-in coffee bar space in addition to adding the outdoor door which gives access the outdoor patio. Imagine waking up to your programmed fresh brewed coffee and being able to step outside immediately before even needing to stop by the kitchen. Moving into the primary bath you are given this element of privacy with high windows above the large soaking tub and segmented vanities for his and hers spaces. Finally, the primary closet where the darkness of this space and simplicity with mass built-ins and stone sitting table was very well done!

The competition is only picking up from week to week and we cannot wait for everyone to see the Lower Level Face-Off next week and how these designers were able to offer extended spaces that compliment different lifestyles! Each team is designing with a buyer in mind that have reflected their style into each space!
